Daryl
Ministries in Southeast Asia
|
Financial Support:
The Ministry of Daryl
c/o Calvary Chapel Tallahassee
8614 Mahan Drive
Tallahassee, FL 32309
Due to the violent hatred of
Christians by the Communist governments of that region, Daryl
has asked that his picture not be shown, to keep him from being
recognized and forced out of the region he is ministering in.
Should you wish to correspond with Daryl, through Shepherd's
Staff, please refrain from the use of any words that may
indicate what Daryl is doing there since mail, and e-mail, is
often confiscated and read by those seeking to find and remove
the Christians from their country.
|
God gave Daryl a burden for the
people of Southeast Asia. After many years involved in youth
ministry at Calvary Chapel Tallahassee, and a number of
short-term missions trips, Daryl sought out additional missions
training with the International Missions Board Organization.
This lead to his first trip to Southeast Asia.
While there, Daryl continues to
learn the languages of the regions he ministers in by working as
an English teacher in an Asian school. This helps him break down
language barriers and spread God's Word by planting churches.
Daryl has spent the past couple of
years in Southeast Asia ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ
to its people. Missions groups from other Calvary Chapels have
made short-term trips to assist Daryl in his ministering.
Daryl also spends time sharing God's
love in orphanages full of disabled children abandoned by their
parents. Due to restrictions place on how many children a family
may have, most families give up children with unwanted
disabilities, leaving them for the government to care for.

Patrick and Barb Lataillade have a
vision to reach the lost in Haiti. Because there are so many who
don't know the true Gospel, God placed it on their hearts to
launch Living Word Ministries, a strategic church planting and
missionary training ministry focused on taking the Gospel to
areas of Haiti where no witness for Jesus Christ has been.
Spiritually, Haiti is a battle
ground. In the early 1800's a witch doctor proposed a 200-year
contract with Satan in exchange for political freedom. The
country's most recent president performed a ceremony to
rededicate the country to Satan. In many villages a voodoo witch
doctor is the sole source for spiritual guidance, protection an
medical assistance. Evangelical Christian are persecuted
regularly by members of the Roman Catholic Church which is
closely linked with those who practice voodoo.
In spite of all this, six churches have been planted in remote
villages on the southern coast of Haiti by the Lataillades;
Mayette, Marche Kabrit, Demeline, Cavalier and Morne Blanc, as
well as one in the capital city, Port au Prince.

Steve and Tina Same have enjoyed
working with Arise and Shine Evangelistic Association since
1988. They spent the first 5 years in the Philippine Islands
proclaiming the Good News. When challenged by the ministry in
1992 to pick up and relocate to London, England, they joined
ASEA’s pioneering effort. They now serve in urban street
ministry, operating out of ASEA’s “London Outreach Center,” - a
fully renovated former English “pub,” where they evangelize
among the city’s 11 million people.
Steve Same began ministry in London following the example of
British church reformers William Booth, George Whitfield, and
John Wesley. The Same's preach on the streets, in parks, pubs
(bars), markets, buses, and commuter trains. And like the
Reformers, they are getting mixed results. Steve has been spit
on, mocked, threatened, pushed around, beat up, and even briefly
jailed! But some have accepted Christ and the city is taking
notice with ASEA being featured in several newspaper articles.

Pastor Carlos Cavero was born in the
city of Lima. An electrical engineer by trade, God moved on his
heart to take his wife, Gilda, and move to Pucallpa where he
started a Bible study that soon became Mercy Calvary Chapel.
Pastor Carlos' burden has been to preach the Gospel of Jesus
Christ and to help those around him grow in the knowledge of
Christ through His Word. God has since blessed Pastor Carlos and
his wife with three children - Carlos, Fresia and Caesar.
The city of Pucallpa
is the capital city of Ucayali in the forested region of Peru.
Due to its location, it can only be accessed by plane or by
taking a 20 hour road trip along a highway from Lima. The
climate of Pucallpa is generally warm with rains in the fall,
spring and summer.
In addition to Calvary Chapel in
Pucallpa, Pastor Carlos also leads regular Bible studies in the
slums of Martha Chavez, a very poor community that lacks basic
services like power and drinkable water.

Igor Prokopiev had just been married
for three months when he met Pastor Dan Finfrock in May of 1992
during an Inductive Bible Study Seminar in Russia. Pastor Dan's
translator had failed to show up, and with a little persuasion
and prayer, Igor agreed to fill in. He had been a Christian for
only 1 year, but was so hungry to grow in Christ.
As he translated in that first
seminar, he frequently would interrupt with a "Hallelujah,
praise God!" He was so excited about what he was learning
through God's Word, that it was all he could do to compose
himself.
Since that time, Igor and his wife
Olga have continued to grow strong in Christ. Igor was appointed
as the Field Director for Russia Intensive Care Ministries in
1993. He and Olga continue to serve ICM through the conducting
of Inductive Bible Study seminars throughout Russia and the
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Marianna and I immigrated to Israel
to begin our new lives as Israelis in April of 1995. With the
blessing of Pastor Chuck Smith, we started Calvary Chapel of
Jerusalem the following year, seeking to bring the Word of God
and the truth of Yeshua the Messiah to the Jewish people here in
Israel through outreach and evangelism. Among His people whom He
has brought from the four corners of the earth, is the remnant
of the House of Israel which has realized God's promises to
bring them back home:
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall
no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children
of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, The LORD liveth, that
brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north,
and from all the lands whither He had driven them: and I will
bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

Born in a remote village of South
India, K.P. Yohannan's personal journey toward spiritual reality
began at the age of eight when he gave his heart to Christ.
While he was still a young boy, his mother began fasting each
week, praying God would call one of her six sons into full-time
Gospel ministry. Her prayers were answered in 1966 when 16
year-old K.P., her youngest, volunteered to serve in North India
with Operation Mobilization.
K.P. Yohannan is the founder and
president of Gospel for Asia, a mission organization involved in
evangelism and church planting in the unreached regions of Asia.
Currently Gospel for Asia supports over 16,000 church planters
in the heart of the 10/40 Window.
GFA has grown rapidly and has
quickly become one of the most effective mission forces in Asia
today. The ministry has expanded beyond India to support native
missions in Nepal, Myanmar, and many other Asian nations. At the
54 Gospel for Asia missionary Bible colleges, over 8,000 church
planters are being trained to reach the unreached.
